We’ll meet to discuss James R. Benn’s Billy Boyle series on the unseen war on crime in the ranks of World War II allies. WWII mysteries are relatively rare but they will, no doubt, catch up with the mostly splendid WWI genre. This series certainly covers the inglorious aspects of the invasions. We will try the Rizzoli and Isles mysteries of Tess Gerritson next: The Surgeon, The Apprentice, The Sinner – gritty and harrowing. For something completely different, the Montana westerns of Peter Bowen are also a choice: Coyote Wind, Specimen Song,Wolf.
